Benjamin Louis Brody is a composer and multi-faceted musician currently based in Los Angeles, California. His richly diverse musical background and distinctive sonic palette have fostered meaningful collaborations with musicians, filmmakers, and storytellers worldwide. In addition to live concert settings his music has resonated across platforms such as HBO, SHOWTIME, Criterion Channel, BBC Radio3, NYTimes and WNYC.
Notably, in 2021, Brody released his collaborative album, Floating Into Infinity (New Amsterdam Records), with virtuoso drummer Ian Chang (Son Lux) utilizing a vanguard sampling program for drummers called Sensory Percussion. Since the release, the “FII” music and sound has been adapted by filmmakers and choreographers from around the world. Most recently, by international award winning choreographer Nicole Von Arx and her company NVA & Guests, producing an hour long performance piece titled, THE FEAR PROJECT.
Highlighted scoring credits include the original score to a MAKE / FILMS documentary, Love Letters to Vietnam; directed by Sebastian Nieves. Brody's evocative score also contributed to the success of director Rodney Llarverias’ award-winning short, Tropicalía (Criterion Channel), which has graced prestigious film festivals worldwide, including Rotterdam, San Sebastián, and Guadalajara International Film Festivals. He has also worked with Emmy Award winning Director Kyle Bell’s short documentary, Setting the Table and paired up with Sundance Ignite Fellow and Horizon Award Winner, Zenzele Ojore, to score her moving-image portrait of the American South, The South Is My Sister’s Skin (SHOWTIME).
Behind the scenes, Brody is also widely sought out as an orchestrator and collaborator. Most recently he served as the lead orchestrator for Hrishikesh Hirway's (Song Exploder) score to director Drew Hancock's forthcoming feature film, Companion (New Line Cinema 2025). In 2022, Brody was orchestrator for composer Anthony Barfield’s, Heritage Concerto for Euphonium and Orchestra. The televised performance Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and was nominated for two Northwest Emmys.
